Every year the Game Awards have gotten bigger and bigger. And this year looks to be no exception with the producer of the awards (Geoff Keighly) announcing on his Twitter that this would be the “Biggest world premiere lineup yet.”
As for what will get announced, there is a lot of talk, but two pretty promising rumors have speculated that Devil May Cry 5 and Soul Calibur VI will be revealed. Both of these would be extremely big announcements. Both franchises have been dormant for quite some time and seeing a return of both announced at the Game Awards could put the show on the map with the likes of E3 and Paris Games Week.
These are still rumors, however, and there have been conflicting reports that these two announcements could happen at this years PSX which is right around the corner from the Game Awards. But with the awards producer Keighly showing a lot of confidence in this year’s show, it seems very likely that these announcements will make an appearance.
Of course, several other rumors are floating around about possible announcements at this year’s show, so there is no telling exactly what will get announced or just how many announcements we might see.
A recent trailer for the Game Awards has several people speculating on a possible Death Stranding announcement from Hideo Kojima himself. The particular moment in the trailer that has many people buzzing is the end scene with footage of Kojima telling the audience he has one more thing to announce. This is footage from a past Game Awards show, but many feel confident that this is a hint towards something big.
The only way to truly find out will be to watch the awards this coming Thursday, December 7th. The show will be streamed from several major outlets including the Game Awards website itself.
