In exciting news, the upcoming psychological horror We Happy Few is being adapted into a full feature length film. The Xbox and PC exclusive title is an alternate look at a dystopian English city in 1964. The game of paranoia and survival will be making its way to the big screen courtesy of Gold Circle Films and DJ2 Entertainment.
We Happy Few is best described by its creators as “a survival roguelike, where you must learn to hide in plain sight among the Joy-happy citizens of Wellington Wells. If you act out of turn, or they notice you’re not on Joy, the locals will become suspicious and will rapidly turn your frown upside down! Forcefully. You will need to practice conformity, stealth and combat if you want to survive long enough to escape.”
In the game, you’ll play as a character trying to survive in this dystopian world, where Joy is a drug distributed to distort reality. Gold Circle Films and DJ2 Entertainment are familiar with video games as they’re behind movie adaptations of Sonic and Sleeping Dogs. Most recently their work includes the upcoming Life is Strange television series.
We Happy Few is from Compulsion Games, and after a successful Kickstarter will be coming to Xbox One, Windows, Mac and Linux. We Happy Few is currently on Steam Early Access and Microsoft Game Preview.
There is no estimated release date for the film adaptation.
