This week we watched a film about a kick ass heroine, weebed out to some live-action reimagining, and Nintendo surprised us yet again with something akin to listening. Here is your weekly round-up for the week of 05/29/17.
The Wonder Woman movie finally came out this week and it did not disappoint. Clocking a two-hour and 21 minute run time, this movie, fortunately, runs at a really nice pace, unfolding Wonder Woman’s story from her Amazon origin to her discovering the rest of the human world, and all the war stuff.
Of course this being a comic book movie, there is plenty of action sprinkled throughout. While there is more slo-mo than usual, the scenes look so cool, who honestly really cares? There’s also some funny moments during the movie (yes in a DC movie), and some real talk about the war.
Gal Gadot solidifies her identity as Wonder Woman with a great and believable performance and that sexy accent that I cannot place no matter how hard I try.
This movie is a definite must watch whenever you get around to it, especially since a sequel has already been confirmed and SPOILERS!!! set up (haha, maybe not that much).
The second trailer for the Tokyo Ghoul live action movie came out this week and everything is coming out Kaneki… or not because Kaneki’s story is not really a nice one.
If you haven’t watched the anime or read the manga, it is the story of Kaneki, a guy who goes on a date with this mysterious girl and long story short she tries to eat him but he gets lucky (using that term very loosely). An accident happens, and they transplant some organs from the girl to Kaneki and now he’s a ghoul… in Tokyo.
But that is just the beginning as Kaneki has to learn how to live with his new life as a ghoul that hungers for human flesh while struggling with his human identity.
This trailer looks good, I like how the tentacle things are looking and the mask looks even more awesome; the trailer has made me want to rewatch the anime, which is so very good and messed up in more ways than one. You should watch it too while we wait for someone to bring us westerners this already awesome looking movie. It is scheduled to release in Japan on July 29th later this year.

Nintendo Switch Online Service Announcements
Nintendo announced a few things this week about their Switch online service which is free until it officially launches sometime in 2018, here are the bullet points on the revised service features:
-Online Lobby and Voice Chat App (non-integrated you will have to download it on your smartphone).
– Nintendo eShop deals on select digital titles
-Classic Game Selection available for download with added online play (no longer just one game per month just for that one month).
-1-Month Membership $3.99 (USD)
-3-Month Membership $7.99 (USD)
-12-Month Membership $19.99 (USD)
Looks like Nintendo is starting to listen to its fans because honestly, just letting you play one game per month and then taking it away when the month is over was complete crap, specially since Sony and Microsoft offer a much better alternative on their respective consoles.
I’m not really excited for the online added features for old games because it’s just probably the old high score tracking and sharing crap that I’ve never really cared for, but I am excited that whenever I feel nostalgic, I can just download an old favorite and take it with me out on the town (town = bed or couch).
So far they have only announced NES games for this service but everyone and their mother are hoping for Super Nintendo, N64, Game Cube, Wii, Wii U, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, GBA, Nintendo DS, 3DS, and Switch games will be available for download. While yes, Switch games are still new, I already consider Breath of the Wild to be a classic and timeless game; I love you Nintendo just let us have this one.
I’m so glad DC is starting to do better with their movies, oh but Japan is being selfish with their live action stuff *cough* and their video games *cough* Secret of Mana Collection for the Switch *cough* excuse me.
This week was a double edged sword if I’m using the metaphor correctly. Did you watch Wonder Woman? Did you like it? Is there a live action adaption from your favorite anime or manga that you’re looking forward to?
Why didn’t I say anything about Fire Emblem Warriors new details? Why don’t you shut up?
I’ll leave you now with everyone’s favorite Pokémon fish and if it makes you feel better click HERE for Fire Emblem Warriors deets.
