Kakashi Hatake, the Copy Ninja, Jounin rank ninja of the Hidden Leaf, is my favorite character in the entire Naruto series. There’s a lot of great reasons why Kakashi is the best to me. He’s capable of handling himself in any ridiculous situation, and he shows his abilities are a combination of everyone around him. Even without use of the Sharingan, he is formidable in any battle. With how talented he is as a Shinobi and an incredibly relax thought process, it was easy to say he’s my favorite character in Naruto.
To give a brief description of Kakashi’s past is no small matter. The man has done much, seen multiple wars, and been involved in countless events that have altered the Hidden Leaf in so many ways, it’s impossible to imagine how the village would have been without him.
He worked with a multitude of teams of all sorts of divisions and ranks to develop his skills and abilities. Most notably, it started when he was a Genin under the tutelage of Minato Uzamaki. He worked alongside Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara. Both of whom are killed, or assumed dead, before too long. It was due to Rin’s death that Obito eventually turned out to be the cause of a great Shinobi war… but that’s for later.
After gaining the Sharingan from Obito, his skills grew dramatically and earned him an incredible reputation through the ranks. For a time he was a member of the Anbu Black Ops, and during this time many of the important events leading up to the series occurred. Kakashi was there during the Nine Tails attack, the betrayal of Orochimaru, and he also fought alongside Itachi before he wiped out the Uchiha Clan. In fact they worked very closely together until Itachi went rogue.
Eventually Kakashi was relieved of his position among the Anbu Black Ops and was appointed as a Jounin Instructor. Kakashi quickly became known for never passing a single student due to his teaching methods. The only ones to ever pass his test were the members of Team 7, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruna, and Naruto Uzamaki.
It is this point in the story when we witness Kakashi’s skills up front. His most notable moments were battles with Zabuza, in the earliest season, and continued to leave his legacy in Shippuden during bouts with members the Akatsuki. He showed his capabilities in every type of chakra (wind, fire, water, earth, and lightning) as well as his physicaly prowess with hand to hand combat and a multitude of weaponry. Give him nothing or give him a gigantic sword, it doesn’t matter, Kakashi will deal a major blow to the enemy.
Among Kakashi’s unique abilities, other than being able to copy almost any Jutsu, he excels most with moves like Chidori, the use of Shadow Clones, and his unique Magekyo Sharingan he develops.
Chidori, a Technique he passes on to Sasuke, is also known as Lightning Blade. It’s a lightning style Jutsu than when activates, sounds like a thousand chirping birds. He uses it in nearly every fight he’s in, and since it’s his original Jutsu, and he masters it almost to perfection. Not quite as much as Sasuke eventually gets with Chidori, but he created it so he’ll do as he wants.
His mastery over the Shadow Clone Jutsu isn’t only incredibly useful in gathering intel and combat situations, which he proves on a regular basis. It’s also incredibly helpful with training and teaching Naruto. It’s thanks to him that Naruto realizes the Shadow Clones’ ability to send information whenever they vanish straight to his memories. It’s also how Kakashi theorizes that Shadow Clones can reduce training time by half for every clone. Of course he can’t create the mob of clones Naruto can, but he’s among the few shown in the series to even be able to use the technique.
The Sharingan is a technique that is only usable by members of the Itachi clan. It’s an incredibly powerful Kekkai Genkai that grants the user increased prowess in several ways. It allows the user to detect charkra flow, much like the Byakugon, make it easy to detect subtle movements at an incredibly fast pace. This is actually how Kakashi is known as “the Copy Ninja.” He is able to detect small movements, like hand signs, and can replicate them as if he knows exactly what is happening, because well…he does. Through that, he copies any move his enemy uses. On some occasions he memorizes these Jutsu and uses them later on in different fights, although this isn’t shown very much.
Kakashi then becomes able to take the Sharingan further and gains the Mangekyo Sharingan like Itachi and Obito. His verion of the Mangekyo is different from others though. He is able to create warp holes in space and suck objects or people in to them. His first time using this, he ripped Deidara’s arm away into another dimension, and rendered his Jutsu useless. His powers develop to an incredible level as the series continues, but spoilers.
Kakashi is an incredibly calm and cool-headed character in the series. Even in the heat of serious battles, like against Kakuzo or Pain, he is able to keep himself together and think before he acts. He may be former Anbu Black Ops, but he’s a great team leader, and above all else, refuses to let his team mates die. Through all of the horrible experiences he has been through, he remains a diligent, and determined shinobi who is willing to give up anything if it means protecting his allies. He may not be the most powerful in the Leaf by any means, but he is always there when he is needed, and always stands strong.
Kakashi Sensei approves of this message!
All this and much much more, is why the Sixth Hokage, Kakashi Hatake, is my favorite ninja in the world of Naruto.
