For those that missed the original tweet a week ago, Netflix recently announced their upcoming animated series, The Dragon Prince. The series will be created by Aaron Ehasz, head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Justin Richmond, director of the Uncharted game series. According to Netflix’s twitter account, the series is about “two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands.”
Between the above plot description and these two powerhouses of the industry, I think we can assume that the show will be nothing short of a masterpiece. Unfortunately, Netflix has not shared much more with regards to the series. The only other information we have is that the show is slated for release during September.
The good news is that we do know that the series’ creators are attending Comic-Con on Saturday July 21. Their panel will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in Room 25abc. From the panel’s description, we know that there will be a “sneak peak” and “inside look” at the upcoming series. So, for those lucky enough to attend Comic-Con, I highly recommend trying to see this panel. This will likely be the first real opportunity to get an impression of the show.
For those that can’t make it, you still might have a chance to see the sneak peak. After Comic-Con is over, sneak peaks and trailers often make their way onto social media. This can happen anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after the convention. However, there still is no guarantee this will actually be the case. The decision will ultimately come down to what Netflix and the creators want to do for the series. Therefore, I still recommend trying to make it to this panel if you can attend Comic-Con. In the meantime, be on the lookout for anything pertaining to The Dragon Prince. After all, who knows how Netflix will surprise us next?
The Dragon Prince is slated for release in September 2018 on Netflix. Comic-Con starts July 19th, 2018 (with preview night on July 18th, 2018).
