Originally only playable at the arcades in Japan, Square Enix has finally announced Dissidia Final Fantasy for the PS4 which will be named Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and is slated to be released in early 2018. Team Ninja from KOEI TECMO GAMES is developing the game in partnership with Square Enix.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, I’ll let you watch it.
From Square Enix’s announcement, players can select from over 20 characters and familiar summons, including Ifrit, Shiva, and Odin, to bring into a 3 vs. 3 battle. The unique “bravery combat system” returns to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT which was originally introduced in Dissidia for the PSP. Similar to the previous Dissidia games, the game will involve two gods (seen in the game’s logo). Materia is known as the Sublime Goddess of Protection and Spiritus is known as the Savage God of Destruction.
From what it seems from the announcement trailer, a hero from each game will be playable along with each game’s respective villain. It also seems like Ace from Type-0 will playable because he was briefly shown in the trailer, but no word yet on Ramza Beoulve from Final Fantasy Tactics (who is playable in Dissidia Arcade).
Also, Square Enix has released some screenshots as well through their press release site.
I’m ready for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT to be released in the U.S. I had clocked in hours on the original Dissidia that was released on the PSP. Once I heard that Square Enix was developing a fighting game with Team Ninja, I was ecstatic and hoped that the game would be released on the PS4 so I can play it. 2018 can’t get here fast enough and it seems like we’ll get to know more about the game on June 13 at 12:30 PM PDT and on June 15 at 10 AM PDT in a Square Enix Presents stream. You can find the schedule for the Square Enix Presents stream here.
The game is up for pre-orders at the Square Enix Online Store.
