Simply put, Doki Doki Literature Club is truly an amazing game. I played through all the possible ending and loved them all.
Doki Doki Literature Club is a horror game hidden in a cute visual novel and it does both genres incredibly well. You are the protagonist, a lazy guy who doesn’t want to join any school clubs, but you made a promise to your best friend Sayori that you’d join a club this year. Sayori convinces you to check out the club she is in, and that’s where you meet Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika and begin the amazing adventure of Doki Doki Literature Club.
I’m not huge into visual novels, but with all the good news I heard about it I thought I’d give it a shot, plus it’s free on steam so why not right?
The music is probably one of my favorite parts of the game. It’s light and so peaceful and it fits with the game so well. I’m a little ashamed to admit it but I bought the soundtrack so I can listen to the music when I do other things too.
The art and characters are great as well. You really start to love or hate, (i’m looking at you Yuri) them.
Doki Doki Literature Club just goes to show a small team of game developers can break the mold and do something innovative. Team Salvato made an amazing game and didn’t even charge anyone to play or enjoy it. I can honestly say that the next game they make, free or not, I will gladly be buying it.
I don’t want to say too much about Doki Doki Literature Club and risk spoiling anything. I recommend everyone giving it a shot. It takes less than 6 hours to beat if you’re a slow reader and only around 3 if you’re a fast reader. Plus like I said twice already, IT’S FREE!!
