Hello, what have we here?
It looks like a new face has been added to the Star Wars cast. Lucasfilm announced that Donald Glover, an acclaimed actor, award-winning writer, and Grammy-nominated artist, will be playing the part of Lando Calrissian in the still-untitled Han Solo Star Wars film.
There are high hopes for his ability to portray Calrissian! My biggest question currently is whether or not Glover will be rocking that iconic moustache!
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” Lord and Miller said in a statement. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
If you are anything like me, I know Glover from his appearances on College Humor, Community, and most recently, Atlanta.
Glover has been keeping himself busy with all of his critically acclaimed projects. Atlanta, his most recent television project, had the highest premiere numbers for any basic cable comedy show since 2013. In addition, Glover appeared in the Academy Award-nominated The Martian, and will be seen in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Glover has really made a name for himself over time with his music as well. If you have never heard his album Because of the Internet (he created this album under the name Childish Gambino) you need to drop what you are doing and jam to it right now!
From one obsessed Star Wars fan to another, I am personally extremely excited to see Glover take on the role. He is a very iconic young American that will be a great addition to the galactic family!
The untitled Star Wars film is set to be released in 2018.
