Dragon Ball Super may have just ended, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of our adventures with Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo. Try to think back to a time when there was no Dragon Ball Super. During this time, there was another spectacular series for fans of the franchise, one that shook the very foundation of YouTube and the internet. And, no, I’m not referring to “that” Dragon Ball series: the one that thought it was a good idea to turn Goku back into a kid. I’m talking about Dragon Ball Z Abridged, the series developed by Team Four Star. While it wasn’t the first abridged series to ever be made, it’s easily one of the most popular to date.
First airing in 2008, it is now one of the longest-running abridged series, one that’s only been surpassed by Little Kuriboh’s Yugioh Abridged. And, after waiting over a year, we finally get to see a glimpse of the DBZA season finale. All I can say is that its two minutes of unadulterated hilarity.
It starts right where episode 59 left off: Cell wailing on Super Saiyan Gohan. In the three minutes of footage, there seems to be many references as to what’s to come. But, overall, my favorite part is a throwback they made to a joke in Episode 2 of the series. I love how even after ten years, they are still able to keep true to their roots.
Before I get ahead of myself, I should clarify that this sneak peek was at the end of their video. Most of their promotional video discussed their upcoming events and series. Specifically, Team Four Star announced that they will be hosting their own booth at Anime Expo, as well as two new series.
From the clip alone, I could not understand the premise of the first series. The second one, however, will be premiering in the summer, which seems to be a parody of Shonen Anime. Personally, I can’t wait to see how this series turns out.
As a fan, though, I mostly am just excited to see that Dragon Ball Z Abridged is coming back. For those of you that want to see the entire video, you can watch it below.
