For all of the big JRPG fans out there, you’re in luck! Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii will be making an appearance at Anime Expo to sign autographs. As you may know, Horii is a legend when it comes to JRPGs, often cited as one of the most significant influences of the genre. According to the official Square Enix Twitter account, Yuji Horii will be signing autographs during the following times:
- Friday, July 6, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
- Saturday, July 7, 10:30 am to 11:30 am
- Saturday, July 7, 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
To get Horii’s autograph, you must receive an autograph ticket in the Dragon Quest area of the Square Enix Booth. The tickets will be handed out the day before each signing at 10:00 am. While it is not clear how many tickets will be available, I highly recommend getting in line early.
For those of you not able to receive an autograph ticket, there will still be plenty to do and see. At the booth, attendees can play the latest entry, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. In the demo, attendees can pick between two different save files, where each showcases a different portion of the game. The first file starts players towards the beginning of the hero’s journey. The second file places players near the city of Gallopolis, where they can race horses, wander the desert, and even partake in an epic boss fight.
After playing the demo, attendees can then receive a free Dragon Quest shirt, as well as enter the photo contest for a chance to win a slime plush. Needless to say, there will be a ton to do at the Dragon Quest Booth.
Anime Expo will be at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 5 – 8, 2018. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be released in the U.S. on September 4, 2018.
