Bethesda took the gaming world by storm when they announced they will be holding their first ever conference at the Electronics Entertainment Expo this year. It has been all but confirmed that Bethesda will be using this slot in the expo to reveal Fallout 4, but the speculation doesn’t end there. Bethesda owns a number of properties, any of which could potentially be shown at their presentation this year. Though, the question remains, will Bethesda attempt to win E3 for the next decade, or will they be a bit more conservative for their first ever E3 showing?
As I said above, the consensus here is that Bethesda will be using this show slot to announce Fallout 4. There have been rumors circulating about the game for almost two years now. Most recently, a German gaming site has cited a “reliable source” that not only will Bethesda reveal Fallout 4, but the reveal will come with a sizable, 20-30 minute demo. There’s also speculation that Bethesda has hired Guillermo Del Toro’s production company to design a trailer for the upcoming entry in the franchise. It’s also interesting to note Bethesda has used E3 to promote the first gameplay demos of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas during E3 2008 and E3 2010, respectively. The validity of these rumors have also been amplified by the fact that Bethesda has chosen to hold their own conference for the first time, ever. Fallout 4 isn’t the only possibility, however. Bethesda has a number of other properties currently hidden up their sleeves.
I do believe Fallout 4 will be revealed to close out the show, but the first half of the show will also be very note worthy. I’m predicting we see a number of Bethesda’s studios in action here including id Software and Arkane Studios. For starters, I believe we will be seeing a new Doom gameplay demo similar to the gameplay shown at this past Quake-Con. Along with this gameplay demo, Bethesda will reveal the game’s release date aiming for a mid 2016 release. We will then be treated with a teaser for Arkane Studios’ upcoming Dishonored sequel. The teaser will give us a setting, new playable character and some awesome new abilities boasting new-gen graphics. There have also been rumors swirling of a Dishonored Definitive Edition that would fit perfectly in with the conference as well as the current trend of new-gen remasters. However, Bethesda will also announce an Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remaster for both Xbox One and PS4. Both remasters will come packaged with all of the current dlc available for each game and will release this holiday season.
Among these potential reveals, Bethesda will probably show off more of Battlecry Studios’ free-to-play multiplayer game, Battlecry. I could also see Bethesda announcing new content for Wolfenstein: The New Order following the release of its first dlc pack. Even though a lot less likely, Bethesda could potentially announce a sequel to RAGE. Now, I don’t believe they will and only because id Software currently has their hands full with the latest Doom. Regardless of what Bethesda does announce, it will surely be a show for the ages and will certainly make for one of the more anticipated E3’s in recent years. Bethesda’s conference will air on June 14th – 7pm PT / 10pm ET.
