Oh my gosh wasn’t the opening of #E32016 Microsoft briefing sexy! First a light show, then the premiere of the Xbox One S with a flashy video to showcase it. Happy E3 Xbox fans.
Gears of War 4 will be the first game coming to Xbox One and, get this, Windows 10 on PC. That’s right, Gears of War 4 will be cross-playable, allowing you to play it on Xbox or PC, but also for you to play against people on both systems. Laura Bailey, voice of Kait in the newest Gears game demonstrated a brief portion of the campaign, live for viewers, displaying the amazing graphics and effects. Gears of War 4 will be out October 11th, 2016. If you pre-order now, it will come with an elite wireless controller designed after Gears of War 4.
Then we moved on to Killer Instinct with a character reveal for General Raam. It will also be a Play Anywhere game on Windows 10 and Xbox One.
What came next was probably not surprising to anyone who saw the leaks this morning (or the black and yellow Lambo on exhibit at E3) but Forza Horizon 3 was announced, cross playable as well (I think I’m seeing a trend here…) The game will take place in Australia and has new gameplay, challenges, and a 4-player campaign co-op. It will be out September 27th.
Recore, one of the most anticipated games to be addressed at Microsoft’s showing was next with a wonderful opening, but not much else… PSYCHE, we were given it’s release date… you thought that was it right? Recore will be out on September 13th. A little ways away but we’ve waited this long.
Final Fantasy XV was next and it’s showcase was focused on a demo, letting viewers see just how fluid the new combat system is. And they were not wrong. Just the gameplay alone looks immersive and intense, I mean, I felt like I was playing and I wasn’t even near the event. The game will be available on September 30th.
The event marched forward with Tom Clancy’s The Division’s new expansion, Underground (which will be out June 28th), but there was no time to waste as Battlefield 1 took over the big screen shortly after the trailer was shown. Of course, yesterday we saw a lot of news about Battlefield 1, what could Microsoft have to talk about? Only that players with EA’s early access membership can play the game October 18th. You should sign up for it~
Xbox Live then got a bit of face time, announcing that background music, language region independence, and Cortana would be coming to Xbox Live. But that’s not all. Clubs will be coming to Xbox Live so that you can create your own community. Then Looking For Group will help you find multiplayer gamers faster than ever. And lastly, Arena will be a new tournament platform for everyone to play competitively. EA Sports will also be bringing FIFA to Arena as well as part of their competitive play they announced yesterday.
Minecraft was next, announcing that Minecraft players will be cross platform as well, uniting all mine crafters with The Friendly Update. Minecraft Realms will be part of this update and was demonstrated with an iPad and Xbox playing seamlessly with…VR. That’s right, Minecraft is also coming to VR. The update will be available today. Texture packs are also coming to the pocket edition and add-ons will also be available in the Fall for all mobile editions.
Xbox Design Lab was showcased next, allowing you to create custom controllers through Xbox, not just 3rd party creatives anymore.
Inside was then teased, which is being created by the team behind Limbo. Limbo will be free to all Xbox Players starting today in celebration of this. It was followed by by a video of the games coming to us soon through the [email protected] program, including Cuphead, Slime Rancher, The Culling, Outlast, Yooka-Laylee and much more that I wasn’t fast enough to list (I’m sorry! I’m only a human!).
We Happy Few was then played live for viewers, which shows a dystopian world where everyone is taking Joy, pills that make you delusional, but happy. It lends itself to some creepy aspects and graphics, showing that anyone that fights taking Joy will be restrained and forced back on the drug, so of course your main character is off his meds. It will be available July 26th for Preview on Xbox.
Gwent, The Witcher Card Game was next and will have a single player campaign and cross platform multiplayer. Gwent will have a closed beta in September, but you have to sign up to get in, so go do it ASAP!
Then a fight broke out. Some guy name Akuma vs a dude named Heihachi just started hitting and kicking each other and throwing shiny energy around. It was wild! Which of course meant Tekken 7 got it’s reveal, and it will be out in early 2017. It’s got a story mode along with it’s normal style of gameplay. But while we wait for more exciting features which will be announced, don’t worry, becayse Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is free for all Xbox Gold members while we wait for more news!
Ah, blood, guts, and christmas. A charming combination. Dead Rising 4 will be out this holiday season.
Scalebound was welcomed with joyous cheers as it was demoed live for the viewers and will have co-op! And if you where wow’d by the Final Fantasy footage, you’re going to love Scalebound. It’s fighting system puts you right in the action, fighting huge monsters as your character or while riding on the back of a dragon. Personally, if it’s an option, I’m never getting off the dragon. Like why would you ever be on the ground again? Have to go get the mail, hop on a dragon! It is slated to be released in 2017.
Sea of Thieves made an impactful entrance with a light show as the trailer for the game played on the big screen. By Rare, it’s going to be a game full of unlimited adventures. The gameplay was then presented by inexperienced players who had just been tossed into the game with no instruction or guidance, showing their reactions while playing the game via facecam. It made for a very light-hearted and entertaining introduction to the game as the players quickly found their way through and fought other pirates while struggling to keep their ship afloat.
And if you love zombies…or hate them, then look forward to State Of Decay 2.
Halo Wars 2 also got a cinematic showing, the trailer was of a deadly battle with UNSC forces. A week long beta is coming to Xbox One right now, yes starting today, but the game itself will not be released until February 21st of 2017.
Lastly, Phil Spencer then came back to the stage and ended the conference with Project Scorpio, which will be out in the holiday of 2017. 6 TFs of power, 4K visuals, and all the xbox systems will be compatible so that no one gets left behind or forgotten…My my my Xbox. Well done.
