EA is taking on the competitive scene with their newest mobile game. Revealed at the EA press conference during #E32018, we got our first look at the mobile title Command & Conquer Rivals. Command & Conquer is a free to play online only mobile title that brings back characters and references from the original Command & Conquer titles.
During the press conference, we were shown gameplay of the mobile title played by YouTuber NickAtNyte and streamer Geoff “InControl” Robinson, two players who are no strangers to Esports and the competitive scene.
As they played we got a look at what the game was all about. Command & Conquer Rivals is a mobile RTS (real-time strategy) game that has players gathering resources, setting up your army, and deciding when to strike against the enemy team. Players control their points as the nuclear missile gauge fills. Once that happens, the player in control of the missile fires at the opposing player, destroying half of their health. The meter fills no matter what you’re doing or who controls it, so you’ll always want to be in control of the missile when it’s full. This means there’s an added element of strategy in being able to successfully gain control at the right time no matter who is winning or previously had control.
Command & Conquer Rivals is free to play and has no timer limiting your play and no energy mechanics. In the pre-alpha stage microtransactions are turned off as of now.
