When Nintendo announced that Epic’s smash hit Fortnite was coming to Switch consoles, it was a win-win situation. Players would get to take one of their favorite games on one of their favorite portable consoles. I myself was pretty ecstatic and quickly downloaded the game onto my Switch.
First things first, so let’s just get this out of the way. You wont be able to use your Epic account on your switch if it’s linked to your PS4, this same issue has come up in the past with games like Minecraft and Rocket League. The reason for this from sony is unknown, but is speculated they just don’t want gamers to play on other systems. This is definitely a big blow if you were hoping to play at home and then carry all your previous stats with you on the Switch. Once you move past that get ready for fun.
The game plays just like it’s other versions, in the looks department it’s somewhere between not as in depth as the PS4/PC/XBOX versions but definitely a significant upgrade from the mobile version which still looks good. The controls could get a little getting used to, for a PS4 player like myself it’s not too uncomfortable with the positions of the joysticks, Xbox players will feel right at home. One of the free concerns that i have is that for players with big hands like myself the joystick nubs can feel a little small. Another concern is that there’s really no touch screen interaction with the game at all as far as I can see, it’d be a nice feature or option to be able to touch the map on screen instead of using the left hand to reach up.
Overall the Switch is the perfect system for Fortnite on the go and will definitely bring in millions of new players into the already popular game, with its fast paced and addictive modes, skins and best of all dancing!
