At 1:08, EA went live with a light show and all that glitters. For the beginning of their opening, EA Play went live from both California and in London, streaming both events during the same broadcast.
Vince Zampella, CEO of Respawn came on to welcome PS4 players to Titanfall, announcing that Titanfall 2 will not only be coming to Xbox, but also Playstation 4 on October 28th. Titanfall 2 will not only bring back it’s multiplayer experience, with of course some new adjustments and improvements, but also with a single player mode that can be played offline.
While on sci-fi news, Mass Effect Andromeda was announced, in which you will not be following the story of Shepard and his/her team, but you will be leaving the Milky Way Galaxy and traveling to an all new system in which you are now the alien on these brand new planets. Mass Effect will now also be brought to you by Frostbite, and the graphics and sound design just in the trailer should have been enough to already give you goosebumps.
We then jumped to Peter Moore to speak about Madden 17, which he said would be bigger and better than ever, with more focus on competitive gameplay. Not only will there be new features and adjustments on the well recognized franchise, but there will be new competitive events hosted by both EA and players themselves. The Madden 17 World Championships will also be bigger and better, with the grand prize for the winner being $1 million USD!
Immediately after. EA also announced Play To Give, where in-game challenges will benefit charities: HeForShe, National Center For Women & Information Technology, code.org, Special Effect, and Code 2040.They will be donating another $1 million dollars through these upcoming events.
We then jumped back over the pond to talk about the all new FIFA 17. In FIFA, again EA mentioned that they would be bringing an improved and enhanced experience (such as bringing to life new and more intelligent AI), but you will also live the life of a pro footballer (aka soccer player). You will follow Alex Hunter as he gets picked up as a professional athlete, deals with real-life managers rendered into the game, and battles the emotional side of an athletes life through their highest highs and lowest lows as they win and lose the game they grew up dreaming they would be a part of.
EA Originals was then introduced, which will focus on small developers, supporting them to create their unique games through funding and marketing, and publication. They recognize that small devs have put themselves out there constantly with little to no return, but have amazing stories and gameplay ideas that EA wants to invest in. This led to the announcement of Fe, a narrative about our relationship with nature (don’t worry, I will bring you a lot more information about Fe shortly. It looks like it is going to be amazing).
Then…the music we all recognize. The main theme from Star Wars. They spoke of Galaxy of Heroes, Battlefront, and Old Republic, showing a video that highlighted the ideas behind these games and the teams that created the already playable games, but there were more games announced by Visceral, Dice and Motive, and Respawn, one of which will have an all new, original story independent from the movies, (though no more details were given about these upcoming games other than a brief clip of in-game footage).
Then, last, but not least, Battlefield 1 was addressed, just as it opened the pre-show. It was discussed how the concept of Battlefield 1 was brought to life, focusing on World War I. It showed cinematically beautiful, in game footage. You will queue into multiplayer matches with dynamic weather and structures that will make the game more real, making players adapt to the world they are in. There will also be airships, trains, and battleships for players to unlock as they play. Battlefield 1 will have an open beta later in the summer.
Then, an hour after the stream went live, Battlefield 1 was played live for all watching the stream. The event was available to watch with a star studded crew. This allowed viewers from around the world to experience the intense action and all the new features first hand and get a look at these every changing weather patterns and the destructible environments.
