2015 has been a great year for video games. So many new major titles were released and a few new ones managed to get into my collection. Of them was considered just a ridiculous rumor that was assumed to be, well just that, a rumor. When Fallout 4 was finally confirmed after years of “leaks” and speculation, it was one of the most exciting moments at E3. It had a lot to live up too, and while it may irritate more critical players here and there, it’s still the most fun game I’ve played in a long time.
The thing that makes Fallout 4 the best game of the year is its complete ease of access to any and all kinds of players. There’s something for nearly everybody. It’s not just one genre, it’s all genres. There’s the rpg aspect, city building, sneaking, collecting, minigames, etc. You get the idea. This game has nearly everything in it. And it can all be done anytime and anywhere in its massive fully explorable world. You don’t have to make your original base or home in any one location, players can choose from a large selection of areas to craft their dream Fallout home and make it whatever they like. You can arm your settlers to the teeth like any other raider group, or just make it a home where you, you’re companion, and (most likely) your dog can just camp out and read comics while listening to the radio. You don’t actually read the comics but the idea is there.
Have your weapons and armor crafted your way.
The Sole Survivor may have one main goal in mind, but you can ignore that fact completely and just do whatever you please in the Commonwealth. There are plenty of ghouls and raiders everywhere to fight and get around however you like. So heck with it, wear a Mascot mask and run around with a baseball bat covered in saw blades. Or feel free to dress up as a typical soldier and use your modded assault rifle.
Enjoy your open playground.
Being able to venture in the commonwealth alone or with companion to do whatever you please makes this title true game of the year material. With a game like Fallout 4, whenever it’s started up, everytime you play there is something new to check out and explore.
