Even though these titles have seen releases on other platforms this generation, it’s fitting to see them return home on a Nintendo console. All three of these survival horror classics were originally exclusive to the Nintendo Gamecube.
This does mark the first time that any of these releases have been portable as well. That is if you don’t count Resident Evil Deadly Silence, a port of the original Resident Evil with exclusive features for the Nintendo DS.
For those unfamiliar with these particular entries in the series, Resident Evil or RE:make as it’s sometimes called, is a complete remake of the original Resident Evil game. Resident Evil remake debuted on the GameCube in 2002 and was met with plenty of critical praise as it managed to make the original game more terrifying.
Resident Evil 0 was originally developed as an exclusive game for the N64. However, development for the game moved over to the GameCube and it saw a release in November 2002. The game is a direct prequel to the first game, which is fitting considering the first game had been remade for the GameCube earlier the same year. Overall, the game was not as widely praised as the Resident Evil remake, but many fans still have a special place in their hearts for Resident Evil 0.
Finally, Resident Evil 4 was released in 2005 and is regarded by fans as the best game in the series. In fact, many people have gone on record to say that it is among the greatest games of all time. Resident Evil 4 follows Leon Kennedy’s quest to save the President’s daughter from an evil cult. Only things are far worse than Leon could have ever imagined, as you fight some of the series most wicked enemies and bosses. It’s a bloody good time and a must play for any survival horror fan.
