I LOVED TOMB RAIDER! Everyone knows it’s one of the best reboots to date in my opinion. Therefore, when I heard there would be a movie based on this amazing game, I was both excited and concerned. Video game movies usually suck (with the exception of Warcraft which was AMAZING) so I was pleasantly surprised to see the first shots of Alicia Vikander looking so much like the Lara Croft of the tomb Raider reboot. Check them out below!

I can’t hold my excitement with how amazing this one shot looks. It just takes me straight back to playing the reboot for the first time and getting to know Lara.
Fans may know Vikander from titles such as The Danish Girl (which she won an Oscar for) or Ex Machina and with her work on those I’m excited to see where she takes this new Lara Croft role. Filling in the shoes most famously worn by Angelina Jolie only time will tell how well Vikander fills those shoes.
Of course this is a new origin story, so the real question is how well the movie will adapt the amazing game.
“Seven years after the disappearance of her father, 21-year-old Lara has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father’s disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan.”
While not much else is known, we do have some casting information. Dominic West is set to play Lara’s father, Daniel Wu is set to play a character named Lu Ren, and Walton Goggins will be playing the video game character Father Mathias Vogel.
