Never Going to Let it Go
Frozen could very well be one of the most successful Disney films to date. Just mere months after its release in theaters, it became history’s top grossing animated film and the fifth highest grossing film ever by bringing in a whopping $1.219 billion at the box office. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Walt Disney Studios recently announced Frozen Fever, a short film mini-sequel that will welcome back Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and everyones favorite snowman: Olaf.
The short film will be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck while also including an all-new original song written by the team of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. This will be the first time since working on Frozen that the Oscar winning team of Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Jonathan Graff (Kristoff) and Josh Gad (Olaf) will be reunited to voice their original characters.
The announcement for the short film was made during the ABC Television special The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic, which also showed a preview of the upcoming season of the ABC series Once Upon a TIme, where the characters of frozen will be making a chilly entrance into the show. With the success that Frozen made for itself, its no surprise how fast the film has spread into the realm of books and TV shows.
The official synopsis provided by Disney of Frozen Fever is as follows:
“It’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.”
It seems that this next installment in the Frozen franchise will follow a similar plot line to the original film with Elsa having difficulty controlling her icy powers that have already proved to be quite dangerous. Many are also wondering if Frozen Fever will possibly tie-in to the much anticipated Frozen sequel, which has yet to be announced along with a release date for the mini-film. Fortunately, fans of Frozen won’t be kept in the dark for too long because a Frozen sing-along film is set to release in November for those who wish to impress family members during the Holidays by memorizing every song done in the Disney classic.
