Character Classes, Deebees, New Swarm Enemies, and a re-imagined Gridlock highlighted in new trailer
The Coalition took the time to let fans know that Horde mode is back and bigger than ever with the new “Horde Mode 3.0 Gameplay Trailer” for “Gears of War 4″.
Among the new enemies and maps showcased, the big change is the 5 class system: The Soldier, Sniper, Scout, Heavy, and Engineer. All these classes have their own unique skills to help climb the ranks to round 50.
New to Horde mode this time around is the “fabricator” feature, adding the ability to place defenses anywhere around the map. In previous installments, equipment such as spike strips, turrets and decoys were given their own spots to build and upgrade.
What caught my attention the most through the guns and destruction was the beautifully familiar sight of the very famous Gears of War map “Gridlock”. While not highlighted, the map sports a new beautiful scenery with the same structures and cover points as previous iterations.
Horde 3.0 is also going to utilize the new Gear Card system that will allow players to add bonuses to their characters. Upgrades include damage buffs, increased ammo capacity and more.
If you’re looking to see more of Gears of War’s new Horde mode, 3.0 will be center stage at PAX west between September 2nd and 5th.
Gears of War 4 is set to release October 11th for Xbox One and PC.
