Revealed live on stage during The Game Awards tonight; the developers behind The Walking Dead and Batman will be bringing us Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series sometime in 2017. Prepare to adventure through space with the ragtag group that are the Guardians of the Galaxy.
In typical Telltale fashion, Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) will be an episodic series with a total of 5 episodes. You can expect the first episode to hit in 2017 on consoles, mobile devices, and PC. Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games tells us why GOTG was a good fit for the developers unique style of storytelling in video games.
“The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore…”
It seems that you will be playing as more than one character throughout the story..
“players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.”
The series will also hit retail as a special season pass disc, which will include the first episode in the season, and will grant access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download via online updates.
Telltale is currently in between finishing up Batman and premiering The Walking Dead: Season 3; with the latter releasing very shortly on December 20th.
With the release of the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, the game will surely see some boosted sales.
Stay tuned for more updates on this new episodic series.
