Daum Games will be releasing Black Desert tomorrow, March 3rd. If you can’t tell by now, I’m really excited for the release of this game. It caught my eye in October of last year, and since then I’ve been tracking its progress. Thankfully, the wait is finally over.
Three different game packages were made available for pre-order in November of 2015. Each package allowed the player a head start on the game, as well as provided them with special items and titles for in-game use. Additionally, the mid and top-tier packages allowed access to the game’s open beta. The head start began on February 28th, however, it didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Many players never received the items from their selected pre-order package. For others, their characters, guilds, and even reserved names ended up on the wrong server. Unsurprisingly, this issue caused quite the upset, resulting in some of the players thinking the pre-order sales were nothing but a scam.
In response, Daum released a statement offering an apology and outlining the solutions and compensation for the affected players. Unfortunately, if your whole character ended up on the wrong server, the only solution at the moment is to delete the character and start over on your preferred server. For all of the other issues, Daum has come up with a work around, including a complete wipe and reissuing of the pre-order items during tomorrow’s scheduled update.
Considering the fact that the price of the pre-order packages ranged from $29.99 to $99.99, I definitely understand why people are so upset. Still, having problems during launch is not something that’s exclusive to Black Desert. Hopefully the March 3rd update will ease players’ frustration and make the official launch a bit more smooth.
