Just announced at PlayStation Experience 2016; The Last of Us Part II is happening. Not only do we have a trailer that features an older Ellie and Joel; we got a somber tune sung and played by Ellie herself. Prepare to feel all of the feels while watching the teaser.
The Last of Us Part II has no release date but it is being developed for the PlayStation 4 by none other than Naughty Dog themselves. According to Neil Druckmann, Creative Director, he tells us that it’s “…still early days for the project—the game’s release is a ways off—but we couldn’t wait any longer to give you a glimpse of what’s to come. We’re going to let the trailer speak for itself, but expect more information about The Last of Us Part II in the coming months.”
You can watch that trailer right here.
It’s oh so satisfying to know that I will be able to play through yet another adventure with Ellie and Joel. The open ending of the first title left me wanting more. I wanted to experience more intense moments and deep storytelling that the Last of Us offered.
Naughty Dog wasn’t planning to do a sequel at first but once they knew how much fans loved the characters, they knew that they had to try to come up with a worthy story to tell. Druckmann talks about how hard it was for the team to achieve this “We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.”- PS blog
look forward to more information on the Last of Us Part II in the coming months. And if you have not played the first one, what are you doing with your life?
