2K Games has announced that NBA 2K15 will dribble it’s way to home consoles this fall. The latest entry in the insanely-popular basketball franchise will be distributed by 2K Sports for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One gaming consoles, as well as PC on October 7th in North America, with an international release following on October 10th. 2K also has revealed that newly-crowned NBA 2013-2014 league MVP, Oklahoma City Thunder Small forward Kevin Durant will be feature as the cover athlete for the title.
This should come as no surprise to basketball fans, as one would be hard-pressed to argue that there was a more deserving player to grace the cover. With Durant averaging nearly 30 points, almost 9 rebounds & 3.5 assists – per game, this choice was a no-brainer. This is also not the first time Mr. Durant has graced the cover of a video game: He was also featured on the cover of NCAA March Madness 2008, as well as EA Sports’ shelved NBA Elite 11 basketball sim and NBA 2K13, which he shared the front graphic art, along with Chicago Bulls’ point guard Derrick Rose & power forward Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers.
In a press statment issued earlier, Durant said the following: “I’m honored to be selected for the cover of NBA 2K, I’ve been an avid fan and player of NBA 2K since I was a kid, and being selected as the sole cover athlete of NBA 2K15 is an amazing accomplishment at this point of my life. I feel like my time has come.”
