Back in April, Konami had new promotional art work for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but people saw that Hideo Kojima’s name was nowhere to be found along side his development group, Kojima Productions. Then later it was announced that Kojima will be leaving Konami later this year, some time after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Well it looks like Konami is at it again as it seems they have takenKojima’s name off of the official box art of the game. People on NeoGAF noticed something different about the box art and saw that the new box art for the game was leaving out the “A Hideo Kojima Game” out of the picture.
Even though we know Kojima is leaving Konami later this year, what suddenly led Konami to remove Hideo Kojima’s name from their last game with the company? They removed his name from the box art, its promotional posters and even from Konami’s website. Some say that it may be because Konami and Kojima both had a different idea on where to take the Metal Gear franchise moving forward, or maybe Hideo Kojima just did not like the idea that Konami will be soon focusing more on the mobile market for games instead of console games.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to release on September 1 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and on September 15 for PC.
