It seems that tons of developers are on board for Nintendo’s new console, the Switch. Level-5, the publishing company behind Ni no Kuni, Yo-Kai Watch, and the Professor Layton franchise won’t have any games at the launch of the system but there are plans to put future titles on Nintendo’s new home console.
In an interview with Vandal.net, the CEO of Level-5, Akihiro Hino, shared some details on a certain game that was announced last year during PlayStation Experience. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a PS4 exclusive that is of course the follow-up to the 2010 hit that was Ni no Kuni.
Via a translation courtesy of Gematsu, Hino tells us that the sequel will feature many new gameplay elements that were not in the original game. Talking about the features he tells us that”from the fact alone that we moved from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, it will not be a simple RPG, and will introduce a new system focused on creating a kingdom. So yes, there will be many differences.”
The typical gameplay of Ni no Kuni will surely remain in the awaited sequel, like befriending enemies and adding them to your party. It’s very Pokémon-esque in the way that you train your creatures and “evolve” them to become stronger allies.
Vandal asked Hino about Level-5’s support of the Nintendo Switch. He responded, “We plan to make games for Nintendo Switch, but I think it’s very important to find out the best way to get the most out of the console. For that reason, we won’t have any titles at launch, but we’ll work with it as soon as we figure out how to take advantage of it.”
I’m sure that Level-5 has loads of ideas for the new console/handheld hybrid that is the Switch. We’ve seen a lot of their titles on Nintendo’s systems; especially on the DS/3DS. There is going to be no shortage of Level-5’s work on the Nintendo Switch.
You can look forward to Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom coming out exclusively on the PlayStation 4. No release window has been announced just yet.
