Sony and Microsoft both have dedicated “achievement” systems for both of their respective consoles. PlayStation has trophies and Microsoft does achievements. Not owning an Xbox, this article will be geared towards the best way to get platinum trophies on PlayStation while also having fun. I’ve recently become slightly obsessed with getting trophies for almost every game I play; If it’s not that much of a challenge. So if you’re one of those people who likes showing off your precious metals and you’re looking for some new ones, here are some amazing games that offer the chance to 100% them if you sit down and show em’ some love.
I’m going to go ahead and put these games all together in one section because they are all so amazing and special to me. The Walking Dead Season 1 & 2, Tales from the Borderlands, The Wolf Among Us, and all of the other Telltale games are super easy to platinum. Not only are they great games to experience, but all you have to do is complete the game once through and that shiny trophy is all yours. The course of these games changes depending on what choices you make throughout, but it doesn’t matter what path you choose, because the trophies are based on progression through chapters and not gameplay actions or anything like that. So sit down with any of their games and you’ll be sure to have a pretty good, emotional time.
Infamous Second Son
One of my favorite games on the PS4 developed by one of my favorite developers of all time. Infamous started out on the PS3 with the first and second entry, and then with this one on the PS4. The series was created by Sucker Punch, the same guy who worked on the Sly Cooper franchise; which I’ll bring up later. Run around beautiful Seattle and choose to be a hero or a villain if you choose. Playing as Delsin and using his variety of powers feels so good on the PlayStation controller. Getting the plat. trophy for this one is not exactly the easiest thing but I guarantee a good time regardless. You do have to complete the story at least twice, and find a lot of little collectibles, but while I was doing this I never felt annoyed or angry. In fact, more than a year of getting my own platinum trophy for it, I’ve been replaying the game the past few weeks for the 3rd time! The world is just beautiful and Sucker Punch knows how to make a solid game. You can even jump in without playing the first two games. If you’re willing to invest some time, I highly recommend getting this one in your trophy collection.
Sly Cooper (Collection)
Another beloved series of mine that was developed by Sucker Punch, I grew up playing through this cartoony cel-shaded heist franchise and the HD collection that was out on PS3 is superb. Sly and his gang of “thieves” have 3 games that were on the PS2 and now you can get three separate platinum trophies for them. If I remember correctly, I 100%’d all 3 games in about 10 days. The story and witty banter between the characters is fantastic, each game throws you in different locations throughout the world and the gameplay is super smooth and works almost perfectly. You can sneak around corners, hide in the shadows, and steal some precious treasure with Sly Cooper’s trusty thieving moves. PLEASE do yourself a favor and pick this collection up! Trust me, it’s so worth it! It’s even on Vita now, so you can play it on the go, if you prefer.
Life is Strange
My recent pick for game of the year is next on my list for a somewhat easy platinum trophy. I’ve talked so much about this game that you can just read my article on it if you want to know more about it. The trophy for this game is going to require a walkthrough or wiki. There are these special moments that you can photograph throughout each chapter, but some of them are pretty obscure and you’ll definitely need some help. After you finish the game, you can go back and use chapter select to easily skip throughout the game to find them all. So I would recommend sitting down and playing through this beautiful game without worrying about trophies and just enjoy the journey. Then once you finish it, go back and find the photographs. This might get a bit annoying, but it only takes an hour or two if you sit down and just do it.
A game I never thought I would actually play and enjoy, Taco Master is pretty much a mobile game that is on the PlayStation Vita. It only costs 3$ and can probably be platinumed in an afternoon. I heard great things about it from the Kinda Funny guys (Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty), who are obsessed with PlayStation and getting trophies. The game is about looking at taco orders and using the touchscreen to correctly put toppings on tacos. That’s pretty much it, the game starts to get hard in the later levels but never too difficult .This is quick and painless trophy to get that is also cheap and entertaining. Go download Taco Master on your Vita now; it’s not like you’re playing anything else 😉 JK<3
Go out and show off your collection to all of your friends! They’ll think that you are the coolest for having such a high trophy level.
