Sega has officially revealed a new cast member for it’s upcoming video game/ animated TV show, SONIC BOOM – Sticks, the “Jungle Badger”.
Sticks, an all-new original character to the Sonic franchise, will be brought to life by the vocal talents of Nika Futterman, whose previous voice acting experience includes Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show and as Vendra Prog in Sony’s Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus video game, among other titles and various TV shows. The inclusion of Sticks will be seen in both the video game and television iterations of SONIC BOOM.
Hiroyuki Miyazaki, Chief Content Officer of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise recently commented about the addition of Sticks to the Sonic universe via a formal press release, saying, “Sticks is a significant addition to the SONIC BOOM universe and the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. She brings a quirky personality and perspective to the team dynamic, and we look forward to sharing this energetic and funny new character with the world.” Executive Producer & Co-Showrunner Evan Baily commented in the reveal trailer about Sticks’s persona, stating: “Sticks is a great addition to this group of characters, and before she becomes a part of our gang, she’s been living in alone in the wilderness for a really, long time… and because of this, Sticks has become a little bit nuts”.
SONIC BOOM, published by Sega, is currently scheduled to be released in Fall 2014 exclusively for Nintendo’s Wii U & 3DS/ 2DS gaming consoles. Big Red Button Entertainment will be handling development for the Wii U version, while Sanzaru Games will developed the 3DS/ 2DS edition.
