Earlier this month we were generously granted a game for free, as long as we had our Xbox Live Gold membership payed, and that game was based on the novel of the same name, Metro 2033. If you “fast-forward” two weeks to Sunday the 16th, the sequel to the original survival horror was brought in to replace the Metro game. More details if you read more!
Metro 2033, the book, was written by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, and was set in the post-apocalyptic, dystopian, Moscow Metro. After a nuclear holocaust, the only survivors live in the metro system underneath the city, and they have made small civilizations below. In the darkness however, things are moving, horribly mutated things and they will feast upon your corpse. The game, Metro, follows very closely to the situation of the book. The survival horror is given to you in the form of a first-person shooter. Naturally you’d think that when given a way to defend yourself that the horror aspect would diminish, and to a degree I’d agree with you. However, if you did not make an exception to that statement, then you’ve never experienced what the Metro games have in store for you.
I would have to strongly suggest you play Metro 2033, before you try your hand at Last Light, but I’m not here to judge you. I would also suggest that you still take the time to download the game to your 360 and get it for free while it’s still available. It should be noted that this offer only lasts until the end of the month as the Games with Gold will change on the 1st of september. Metro Last Light is a continuation of the first game so you will still play as Russian survivor Artyom, who was also the protagonist in the book. Artyom is a defender of the metro, and will do anything to protect his home from the horrible mutations just outside.
