Nintendo Treehouse brought to us a big surprise announcement very early on. The big reveal? A remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus is coming to the 3DS as Metroid Samus Returns! Based on gameplay shown, this seems to have the same relationship to the original as Metroid to Metroid Zero Mission. Let’s see what this remake has to offer.
The storyline of this remake will be the same as the original game. That said, it has been confirmed that there will be Chozo Ruins in the game, which can show further plot details. Who knows what other plot details may be hiding?
Fans have long been waiting for a 2D Metroid with modern graphics, and this is just that game. Gameplay honors the original game, but adds new mechanics, some from other games, and some new entirely. Such moves include the Spider Ball from Metroid Prime. There are also new abilities such as melee attacks, and special aeion abilities that trigger all sort of effects, like armor, or the ability to scan an area. The Treehouse also highlighted an intense depth of 3D, for those that like to use the 3D feature.
Special Edition And Amiibo
The game will have a collector’s edition available for fans. This will include a soundtrack for fans. In addition, the game will feature amiibo support. It will support the Samus and Zero Suit Samus amiibo previously released, as well as two new amiibo.
