Some interesting news yesterday coming from the developers of Hover: Revolt of Gamers that’s very exciting. We have word that Hideki Naganuma has just joined Midgar Studios! We all know what Naganuma brings to the table and that is great music. If the name doesn’t ring a bell then maybe “Jet Set Radio” can enlighten you on his work. Known for its cartoon-graffiti style, this action adventure game had some great tunes to go along with its futuristic approach. That was all behind Naganuma’s genius and so it was sort of a no brainer to have him plug in some of his musical magic to Hover. Take into consideration the flamboyant visuals, add Naganuma’s sound and that’s a recipe for success.
Now for those unfamiliar with Midgar’s new title, now would be a good time to familiarize yourself with this fast paced parkour adventure. The games plot is based on a city were games have been banned by the new mayor ( glad this is fiction) and it’s up to a group of gamers to save the day. The style of play can only be described as a Mirror’s Edge and Jet Set Radio imaginary love child, parkour with an inline skating twist. Another cool element to the game is its upgradable character skills that give it a little RPG flavor to it. The visuals are what you would expect from a JSR inspired game, Colorful and ultramodern. It just has this abstract and obscure feel to it and it definitely catches your eye. The best part is the most obvious, the more money that’s put into it, the better the game is as a whole. To add to the already great news, Hover: Revolt of Gamers has raised over $62,000 in its kickstarter fund. This is a surprising amount to me, as well as the developers, considering their goal was $38,000 which they have clearly passed. This $24,000 raise was what gave the nod for Hideki to get on board with the project as the composer. What this can surely mean for us is a higher quality game with more features to go along with it. Hover has already been confirmed on the Xbox one, Ps4 and PC with Oculus Rift support. It was rumored to also have a release on the Wii U but a $100,000 kickstarter goal has to be reached for this to become reality. So If you want to help the cause I will leave a link to their kickstarter down below. There’s still plenty of time to donate with 21 days left on the countdown.
