No one can really say they are surprised that Minecraft is headed to the Switch. Not only is Minecraft playable, like, everywhere, but it’s design and play style would work wonderfully on the newest console. So if you love this relaxing game and want to take it on the go with you, here it comes!
Grab on to your Joy-Cons and hit the Nintendo eShop. Minecraft is out this Thursday, May 11th. And it will cost you 29.99 USD
The game itself is the same. No additions or changes have been made to it. However, it will include the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, so you can wear the skins of your favorite Mario characters, hum along to some sweet Mario music, and build a Mushroom Kingdom all your own.
Although the Switch still doesn’t support voice chat, you will still be able to play with friends. Locally, you can have 4 people jump into the worlds you create with you, but if you take your gameplay online, you can explore, survive, and build with 8 people total.
And if you have concerns about the size of the world, don’t. Although not as big as it’s Xbox and Playstation counterparts, the Switch version of Minecraft is much bigger than the Wii U edition. It will also run at a smooth 60fps. Ah, what marvelous, square beauty!
And if you have some worlds you are proud of still lingering on the Wii U, no Minecraft world will be left behind! It won’t be available as soon as the game goes live, but at some undetermined time in the future, you can transfer your creations to your Switch. Pretty darn nifty.
The last thing you need to know is that it will only be downloadable for some time, as in there is no physical copy of the game yet.
So will you be downloading Minecraft to a Switch near you?
