With everyone clamoring over Netflix new Castlevania series this weekend, it seems the online streaming service has already green lit a second season. This is good news for many fans worried that the four twenty minute episodes might be all they were getting. And it looks like season two will also receive double the content with eight episodes. There is no word on what a release date for a second season will be, so it could be quite a while until we are treated with some more Belmont action.
It looks like Netflix may be doubling down on video game shows as recent news surfaced that there could be an Assassins Creed animated show in the works too. If this is the case then maybe Netflix may be the saving grace for video game to TV and movie adaptations that we have been waiting for. Many are praising Castlevania for its awesome voice acting and graphic gore. Hopefully Assassins Creed will be given the same treatment.
This also brings back those rumors we heard a few years ago of Netflix working on a Legend of Zelda series. Late Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata denied rumors that Netflix and Nintendo were in talks for a Zelda show. However, maybe some successful game adaptations like Castlevania could be enough to get Nintendo at least interested in exploring the possibility. In fact there are plenty of great video game to show adaptations that I think would fit perfectly on Netflix and not just Nintendo. Halo, Fallout, and Metal Gear all come to mind. Here’s to hoping that Netflix actually does pursue adapting more games into shows because there are plenty of great stories that still need to be told.
