Ok, so by now you had to have seen it, but just in case you were completely under a rock this weekend, Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, in front of lucky attendees of the San Diego Comic-Con Hall H Panel and later online for the whole world to later enjoy in amazement.
The trailer, running at three minutes and thirty-nine seconds, begins where Man of Steel left off: with Superman facing the US Senate for his actions in MoS’s dramatic climax. During the meeting which clears displays the senate’s unease with his abilities, we come to find out that during Superman’s epic final battle with Zod in Metropolis, Bruce Wayne is also in Metropolis at the same time, witnessing the destruction of his own building and people potentially dying from the destruction ensuing. Now it’s personal and that just the beginning…
The trailer then focuses on on various shots of Bruce walking through a field towards what seems to be a deserted Wayne Manor, being taunted about his family’s death (apparently by a mystery stalker of sorts) and training in the bat cave, before glaring at his batman costume while Alfred warns about the rage that consumes men. Perry White then goes on to tell Clark at The Daily Planet offices to leave “The Batman” story alone. Lois then offers Clark/ Superman some words of encouragement to become the hope people need while his mom seemingly does the opposite.
We then get a few scenes of The senator from the beginning of the trailer sharing a private conversation with a long-haired, snotty Lex Luthor reciting his quote about “devil’s coming from the sky” while Superman looks to be bowing before him and obviously not too happy he’s doing so. What follows are a series of quick shots of Bruce staring at a tattered Robin outfit (with the word “HAHAHA Joke’s on you, Batman!” written in green spray paint on it’s chest), Zod’s recovered dead body, a reenactment of the Wayne Crime alley murders, Batman in the daylight fighting soldiers (looking very much like his “Red Son” comic book counterpart) and much more.
Seriously, I could write 5 more paragraphs just describing the trailer and all it’s numerous Easter eggs and call-outs to the comics, but you don’t want to read anymore. you want to watch the trailer. So here it is….
