Mighty No. 9 has been in development for a few years now after starting as a fundraiser project from series producer Keiji Inafune. He felt that Mega Man was not getting the love that he deserved which forced him to sort of come up with this spiritual successor. The game took some time, even getting delayed, but it’s finally releasing in February 2016 for pretty much every console under the sun; Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, where Abstraction Games and Engine Software are porting the game onto the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. The Vita and 3DS versions will be coming at a later date.
In this shiny new gameplay trailer, it highlights the boss rush mode, challenge mode, and the extremely difficult one-hit death maniac mode.
“The trailer also features the first look at both the 2-player online Co-op Challenge mode and Online Race Battle mode! Tackle co-op specific challenge levels as Beck and Call using their unique abilities to defeat the enemies and finish the level, or battle it out online in a race through the main levels battling your opponent to get the highest score. Whether you like to team up or beat your friends, we cater to both needs.”- PlayStation Blog
