New Jobs, Race, and Raid Revealed for FFXIV
The latest Final Fantasy Fan Festival of 2014 has come and gone, and left fans satiated with a slew of news for the game and its upcoming expansion, entitled Heavensward. Square-Enix displayed glimpses of the brand new Raid, Race, and Jobs associated with the newest and first expansion to come from the Eorzean Universe.
First, the reveal we’ve been waiting the longest for, the brand new race making its way to Eorzea, and that’s the Au Ra. A new humanoid-like race, with horns and scales covering sections of their skin, the Au Ra are distinctive in that they’re the first race with completely separate physical attributes between the male and female races. While the males are muscular and tall, the females are much smaller and dainty, being described as “elegant and mysterious.” The Au Ra are from the land of Othard, and Yugiri, the mysterious character from past photos, is of the Yugiri race. The Au Ra are a unique race, in that they are original and brand new for Final Fantasy XIV.
The Jobs revealed include the already revealed Dark Knight. The new Tank job confirmed for the FFXIV, is a huge tank that looks to be an amazing rendition for tanking, with animations that make them look like they’re going to be hitting opponents very hard.
The next reveal was the Astrologian. A brand new healing job, that calls upon the stars and astrology to heal their teammates. Their main weapon is a “star globe” with six different elemental cards that can be used to harm enemies or buff friends. They draw these cards to cast their spells, and no base class is required to play this job.
The next job, is the Machinist. The Machinist is the gun-slinging ranged DPS likened to the Bard job, but without the beneficial buffs. Their main weapon is of course, a gun, and they have the ability to modify their guns as well as use mechanical turrets in battle. No base class is required to play this job.
The new Raid is called Alexander. Described as a “massive mechanical fortress” it is a dungeon primal summoned by the goblins. The battle of Alexander will happen within the fortress, and the raid will contain both normal and hard difficulties. The raid can only be unlocked after the main scenario of Heavensward, but clearing the Binding Coil of Bahamutis not required to enter.
There’s also a new flying mount, a Dragon that you befriend throughout the story.
That’s exciting news, a new DPS, Tank and Healing job introduced as well as a new race, Heavensward is looking to be an exciting expansion. Below is a trailer by Mr.Happy detailing the new Jobs and Race.
