The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has its first set of DLC coming at the end of this week, Nintendo have been kind enough to give us a bit more information in regards to Midna’s helmet and how its design came to fruition.
June 30th is the official release day for the DLC and if you’ve already purchased it, one of the items being made available is a hidden chest which contains Midna’s helmet. It looks great and the origins span back to 2007 Wii/Gamecube title Twilight Princess.
If you look at some of their original design sketches for Midna below you can see that she underwent quite the transformation upon completion. I quite like the look of the colourful “gummy bear” look!
Now I don’t know about you, but the red-devil looking Midna looks a little terrifying and I’m quite pleased she turned out the way she did. It’s also been revealed that Midna wasn’t always Link’s trusty companion!
“Creating a “buddy” character who would stay next to Link at all times and battle in tandem with him was a first for a Legend of Zelda game. The challenge started with brainstorming among designers for ideas, and we eventually finalized this character through a trial-and-error process for her shape, facial expressions, actions, etc.
In early prototypes, as a placeholder for Midna, Tetra from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was riding on Wolf Link as he ran around Hyrule.”
There’s going to be lots of news in regards to the DLC this week in the run up to Friday so keep an on the official Zelda: Breath Of The Wild page and you can also find some further information about the Korok mask and the Phantom armour.
As always we’ll keep you up to date with everything as well so don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and let us know if you’ll be traversing Hyrule once again come Friday.
