The Nintendo Switch was only unveiled officially last month and already it’s garnered more attention than its older brother, the Wii U. The reveal trailer has racked up over 20 million views and counting and it looks like UK retailer GAME may have just let the cat out of the bag in regards to the price of the console.
There hasn’t been an official wording from Nintendo yet but earlier today a couple of stores put up a price tag for the Nintendo Switch, the two I’ve heard about so far are UK retailers GAME and the Canadian Toys ‘R’ Us store. The prices have since been removed but they certainly seem like they may be close to the truth judging from Nintendo’s past home console launches.
The price was listed at around $250 (£200 if you’re a UK gamer like me!) and this seems to hint towards a ‘basic’ package of just the console on its own. There are some other UK sources that have stated there will be a second package which includes a game bundle plus more internal storage priced at around £249.99.
Now comparing that information to the Wii U’s launch it seems like it could be cheaper which would be a pretty good selling point already. Especially considering that people are actually talking about the Switch and when the Wii U launched barely anyone knew what it was.
Nintendo won’t be unveiling anything new in regards to the console until January 2017 now but I certainly hope that today’s news isn’t far from the truth. They’re usually good at sticking to affordability and I was actually expecting a higher price tag!
