In a recent interview between Eurogamer and Jeff Koplan, Koplan confirmed the McCree nerf that was rumored to happen. Blizzard is also looking into buffing D.Va. Some other things discussed were the changes that will be made to the game’s Competitive mode. The game is currently a skill-based system rather than a progression-based, as it was originally planned out to be.
The original system had players work their way through different levels (challenger, advanced, expert, master, heroic) and could be booted out of one of these levels if they were consistently losing. This was put in place to avoid any kind of“safety net” , so if you lose, you will go down, and if you win, you will go up.
The McCree nerf, will include reducing his “fan the hammer” damage. The plan is to keep it high enough to take care of the “the squishies,” like Tracer, Genji, and Reaper, with his flasbang/fan the hammer combo. The nerf will make it harder for him to defeat tanks. The changes being anticapted for D.Va are a whole other situation. Blizzard is looking into giving her some buffs to her damage or her survivability. It is unlikely they will buff both. The D.Va changes wont come in effect until after McCree receives his nerf.
D.Va is personally my favorite character to play as and I think that she could use a buff to some area of her. She is a tank, after all, and should do just as much damage or survive as long as the other tanks that are a part of the game. As for McCree, I do find it annoying when I am charaters like Bastion and he is able to knock me out in one shot.
