Coatsink Software has just announced today on the PlayStation Blog, that they are planning on releasing a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer by the name of Shu. It is going to be released on the PlayStation 4, PS3, and the PlayStation Vita around the middle of 2015.Tom Beardsmore, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Coatsink Software, established the company in late 2009. They released a couple of mobile titles and are now expanding their team to develop PC and console games. This is their first PlayStation title and it looks beautiful.
So Shu is a platformer, where the player can use the abilities of a group of unusual and adorable hand-drawn characters. A terrible storm has ravaged the land, so people had to seek refuge. Not everyone made it through, so your job is to rescue these trapped villagers. Your Journey will take you across deserts and through dense forests.
As you play as Shu and when you come along these stranded villagers, you must guide them to safety using your hands or even your beard. But your friends might not always be able to stick with you. If your companions get caught by the sinister storm, they will be gone and never to return. So you gotta find ways to survive if you wanna keep the abilities that your friends will bestow upon you.
They drew inspiration from classic platformers like Klonoa and Abe’s OddyseeAny indie platformer that looks like this will always grab my attention. The art style and gameplay heavily remind me of games like Rayman and the recent Child of Light. You can find more info about the game here.
They expect for the game to be released sometime in the middle of 2015. So keep your head out for this title when it comes out for all PlayStation platforms.
