If you haven’t tried the fast growing, freemium MOBA that pits gods against gods, now it will be easier than ever to pick up for Playstation and Mac users.
Smite: Battleground of the Gods was released for PC in early 2014, and was praised for its uniqueness by throwing out the bird’s eye view so commonly associated with MOBA’s (such as League of Legends) and moving the camera just behind the god or goddess of your choice. As it gained more fans and followers, Hi-Rez, the company behind Smite, then brought the third-person brawler to Xbox One in 2015. It was quickly consumed, which, of course, led the company to decide where to expand next. So the gods traveled to the Playstation, and now, after months of beta testing, Smite will officially be calling the PS4 a new home as the testing comes to an end.
But Smite’s conquest does not end there. It was announced as part of the 3.9 patch notes on May 19th that Smite is also coming to Mac! So fellow OS X users, if you want to test out this fast-paced game, you can go and download the open beta from Smite directly or through Steam. And this couldn’t come at a better time with Smite’s newest event, the Viking Invasion, hitting every platform with the 3.9 update! For the low cost of 900 gems (which will run you about 25 USD for 1,500 gems, the closest payment option), you will be given 2 exclusive skins, a pedestal for your characters to stand on, a loading frame as you enter a game, as well as an announcer pack and music theme so that everyone can play in style. Through unlocking these items, you also gain access to the Viking Invasion quest, which will give you favor, another form of in-game currency, and the chance to unlock more skins as you battle through the game.
