If you have been exploring around in the Alola region in Pokémon Sun and Moon, you may want to be careful. A number of fellow trainers have been reporting a bug in the game that is corrupting their save files.
For any veteran trainers out there, one thing we all know is that the save feature in Pokémon is pretty nifty. You can save your game’s progress at just about any time or place. Before important battles, after catching a Pokémon you’ve been searching for. One of the most convenient and easy places to save however is inside of Pokémon Centers. With your team arranged and all healed up, it’s a good place to stop and pick back up later if real life comes calling you away from the Alola islands.
DO NOT SAVE IN POKÉMON CENTERS!
A number of players have reported that after saving at Pokémon Centers around the entire region, their save files would be corrupted and they would have to hard reset their game. And it’s not just Pokémon Centers either, but also in some areas of the Battle Tree. The Battle Tree, however, is an area you don’t unlock until after you’ve beaten the main story. Still, if you hear anyone say Battle Tree, DON’T SAVE INSIDE IT.
The glitch occurs on loading after saving in one of these game-breaking locations. Your trainer will be invisible and you will no longer be able to progress through the game. At the time of writing this, there has been no announcement of a patch to fix the issue. So stay safe and step outside these areas if you need to save and quit your game. It will save you some devastating heartbreak…and keep you from repeating that really long prologue with cutscenes galore.
Other than that, enjoy the game, I guess. And stay safe trainers!
