Rockstar Games have finally decided to show a little more of Red Dead Redemption 2 with a new story trailer that details a bit about the game’s main character and small story elements.
Damn, Rockstar seriously knows how to do great trailers. Explosions, moody and perfect dialogue, train heists and street fights. All the things so awesome about the first game. Also, it’s ridiculous to get excited about having bows and arrows in a game that comes out in 2018, but it’s Red Dead so I’m excited to have it. Oh, also gators! The wildlife was such a great experience in Red Dead Redemption that seeing what else they add to the sequel is exciting in itself.
It’s previously been a huge point of topic for fans whether this outing would be a prequel or not to the first Red Dead Redemption. This trailer confirms your main character as Arthur Morgan who is seemingly a member of Dutch Van der Linde’s gang. This is the same gang that John Marston, the protagonist of the first game, was once a member of and had to hunt down the remnants of in Red Dead Redemption.
Considering the difference in look for the character’s age, this seems to show a prequel setting which could help to tie together the events of the first game or lead into them. The character Arthur Morgan is new though. He seems to be the kind of outlaw John Marston was always saying he never wanted to be again throughout the first game. Unfortunately, that’s about all we get from the trailer. The game looks beautiful and engaging with a story I already want to know more about, but it might be difficult to reach the peaks that Red Dead Redemption did.
If anyone is capable of that feat though, it’s Rockstar. No date has yet been set for this title except to say Spring of 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One. This time frame will also mark 8 years since the release of Red Dead Redemption on May 18th, 2010.
