E3 is right around the corner and the excitement for the big week seems to continue to grow as its all the internet is talking about. However, it looks like PlayStation CEO Shawn Layden wants to set everyone’s expectations in check by giving us plenty of details about Sony’s E3 conference.
Sony Interactive CEO, Shawn Layden was recently on the PlayStation Blogcast to discuss Sony’s upcoming E3 conference. Layden laid out more details about the conference than many would have expected.
“E3 this year will feature exclusive looks and deep dives on four upcoming titles. Four of our big titles,” said Layden. He went on to detail how this years conference will take a different approach than past E3 events for the company. “We have great content, we have fantastic updates, I think everyone will be thrilled to see it, and we’re taking kind of a different angle on how we’re bringing it out.”
The four titles that Layden said we would be able to expect are Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part 2. These are all titles we have previously known about, but Layden promised that we would be given more in depth looks into all of these games.
Layden expressed that the updates for Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima will be very exciting. What was even more interesting was that he promised that some new reveals for the upcoming Spider-Man game would leave gamers “blown away”.
Finally, when talking about The Last of Us Part 2, Layden exclaimed, “We’ll have a full new scope and treatment on that to show progress with the game, and give people a better understanding of where we’re going with Part 2. We’re really excited about it.”
He also informed listeners that The Last of Us Part 2 will be the centerpiece of the conference, assuring us that it will have a big presence. However, Sony’s first party titles won’t be the only focus as Layden informed that Sony will “have stellar announcements from third-party publishers and independent developers” on stage also.
The final detail that Layden told the blogcast is that there are no new hardware announcements for this years E3 conference. This means no PlayStation 5 announcements just yet. Which means we still have plenty of time to enjoy all the love our PS4’s have been receiving lately.
