The entire world of Tamriel will fit into the palms of your hands when Skyrim is released for the Nintendo Switch. For Elder Scrolls V fans, this is a HUGE deal. I myself have logged days in my Skyrim adventures and with the epic title coming to the new portable system, I’m bound to add weeks to that time. The looming question that everyone seems to be asking is whether the Switch will be getting the updated, high definition Skyrim Remastered or the original release title from back in November of 2011?
Bethesda has talked a great deal about their partnership with Nintendo, but they have yet to inform the general public on whether or not fans can expect the updated title or the original release. There is even a website dedicated to the Switch port of Skyrim, but of course there is no mention of what version. The Elder Scrolls V will be Bethesda’s first project with Nintendo since Home Alone and Where’s Waldo for NES in 1991. The rumored release is Fall of 2017.
Another big question is whether or not the Nintendo Switch will allow the use of mods from the Bethesda website. Though I am personally very hopeful that they do allow mods, I highly doubt it is going to happen. There was a listing for the Switch at Best Buy stating that “Mod Support” has been confirmed. Even if this is the case, Nintendo may prove to be more strict than Sony, seeing as this could be the first time Nintendo has been introduced to mods being used on their platforms.
