The year of the Blue Blur is upon us and thanks to a recent tweet from the official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter page we now have a release date for the next installment in the series. Sonic fans will be able to play Sonic Forces November 7th, on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Along with this Sega has also revealed a limited pre-order edition of the game called the Bonus Edition, that includes all kinds of extra goodies.
The Bonus Edition will include a Sonic Forces controller skin that depicts some of the games promotional art. Also included with the bonus edition are 5 in game costumes for the games character creator mode. The costumes depict classic Sega franchises with Monkey Ball, Jet Set Radio, PuyoPuyo, and NiGHTS. However the final costume included is from Persona 5?! Yep, you read that right Atlus’s massive RPG series will be represented in Sega’s Sonic Forces with a Phantom Thief outfit for your custom character. Sega had acquired Atlus back in 2013 and this comes in part of the merger. As strange as it is, its really cool to see Sega acknowledging its classic franchises as well as its history with Atlus.
Sega has already gained a lot of respect from fans this year with its release of Sonic Mania. The game has since struck a resurgence in the Sonic fan community and many have been gaining interest in Sonic Forces. Sonic Forces looks to be a follow up to the well received Sonic Generations that blended classic side scrolling Sonic with the more modern 3D play style of games like Sonic Adventure. Hopefully we can expect the same level of quality and fan service we received with Sonic Mania.
So what do you think about Sonic Forces? And are you excited for the pre-order skins?
