Bandai Namco announced recently that SoulCalibur VI would include Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series as a guest character for its’ roster. On the heels of that announcement, the game’s official box art has been released showing off the new fighter alongside Mitsurugi.
This should really come as no surprise considering the SoulCalibur series’ love of guest characters has always passed on to its’ covers. Previously we have had different art for different platforms that included their own specific playable guest inclusions. SoulCalibur II had Link, Heihachi, and Spawn on Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox respectively. This also continued later with Yoda, Darth Vader and Ezio Auditore for SoulCalibur IV. Without any announcement as to what other guest fighters we may see, we don’t know yet how the box art might also change for the platform of choice.
Still, it’s great to see Geralt in a SoulCalibur release and certainly gets me even more excited for what is shaping up to be an amazing entry in the series. The art itself is crisp and bright as to be expected, but it will be interesting to see how they would approach it for other characters and platforms. Check out some gameplay below from the exhibition of SoulCalibur VI that took place at this weekend’s Final Round competition.
SoulCalibur VI looks like a blast and I am eagerly anticipating a full roster reveal. Currently, the title has no release date, but I would expect to see a lot more of the game at this year’s E3 where we’ll hopefully get a firm release date.
