Of course, everyone knows by now that Sony’s exclusive Spider-Man PS4 game will be released September 7th, later this year. However, with this announcement came the reveal of a sleek looking collector’s edition that seems to be hiding something from us. The main draw to most collector’s editions is the exclusive statue and in this case, we can only see half of the statue. The only part that is clearly visible is Spider-Man himself, while the bottom portion is hidden behind a box that has a RAFT logo on it with caution tape stating that it will be revealed this summer.
RAFT is something that has been brought up in the Spider-Man comics before. It is a maximum security prison on Ryker’s Island that is controlled by S.H.E.I.L.D. One of the most interesting storylines featuring the RAFT is a prison break lead by Electro. This prison break sets 46 super villains free to cause chaos all across New York with Spider-Man left to save the day. Which sounds an awful lot like the plot to a good video game if you ask me.
All of this is just speculation of course, and we have no idea if this is the plans that Insomniac has for RAFT. But it certainly wouldn’t be a bad way to set up an epic video game plot where New York becomes overrun with all of Spider-Man’s greatest baddies. And if they do follow this storyline will we see Electro at the bottom of that Spidey statue?
Well as of now there is absolutely no way to tell, but it sure is fun to speculate. Of course, we will probably find out more at this years E3 during Sony’s press conference. That means we only have a few more months before we can find out more about what seems to be one of the most anticipated games of the year.
I wanna know what you guys think. What is on the bottom half of that statue? And do you think the RAFT storyline could possibly be the Spider-Man plot? Be sure to let us know in the comments and check out WTFGamersonly for more great gaming news and articles.
