Peter Parker, Miles Morales AND Gwen Stacy make their way into the newest trailer for the hotly anticipated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse where this alternate reality has more than one friendly neighborhood Spiderman and it already looks amazing.
We’ve seen a few previews for this upcoming animated title but we’ve finally got a better look and understanding at what will be in the Spider-verse. We find out that this is an alternate universe where there are multiple people with spider-powers and this story focuses on Miles Morales.
For those unfamiliar, Miles is the first biracial character to don the spider suit. He’s half-black and half-latinx and we will finally see a non-white iteration of Spider-man on the big screen. He was first introduced in the comics back in 2011 with the title Ultimate Fallout #4 following the death of Peter Parker. It seems this new animated title won’t kill Peter, with Parker seemingly teaching Morales how to be Spider-man. That’s yet to be seen though as it could be how this new film ends.
The animated movie looks like it’s going to be intriguing and hilarious. There’s so much culture and life packed into the little we’ve seen. The characters shown are such a refreshing look and a reflective outlook on our current society in modern day New York. Showing so many people of color in this universe is exciting in itself, and this is all before discussing the engrossing art style shown off in this new trailer. It is GORGEOUS. It takes the essence of a comic book and combines it with a cool 3D animated style and create a crossover that looks astounding.
Plus Gwen Stacy as Spider Gwen. And those awesome suits, Miles has that sleek black and red while Gwen brings that gorgeous black and white into the mix. It all looks incredible.
It’s so exciting to see where this animated feature will take us with three different versions of the famous spider to root for.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be in theaters on December 14th.
