Every anime watcher has their iconic anime that they share with their friends or family. Those anime that touched your heart, the ones that spark your interests, or maybe ones that you think are funny. No matter what your reason is for deciding to love the anime you love, I’m here to give you my Top 5 favorite anime and why I love them.
#6) One Piece – Already starting the list off with a twist. That’s right a number 6 in a Top 5. Of course every anime lover has some sort of love for one of the Shonen Superpowers. Mine just happens to be One Piece. I have a personal love for One Piece because I always wanted to be a pirate growing up (I still do actually). Good amounts of action, a great story, and lovable characters are just enough to give this Shonen Superpower a special place in my heart.
#5) Assassination Classroom – The story of a super powerful alien creature that destroyed the moon teaching Class E how to assassinate him. Assassination Classroom is definitely a weird one but the emotion I felt as I watched made me grow so attached to the characters. Seeing these characters grow and change as people, as they live their lives being taught to be killers is something definitely worth watching. Plus the Nagisa x Kayano ship is just too perfect to not want to watch.
#4) Akame Ga Kill – A story of seven assassins whose plan is to overthrow the corrupt government. It’s a shame this anime will probably never get a sequel. I’m pretty sure I’ve watched Akame Ga Kill three or four times now because I just love it so much. A well developed story, beautifully developed characters and character growth, tons of action, and a little bit of romance. Akame Ga Kill is a short 24 episode anime so I don’t want to tell you too much. All I can say is it’s worth a watch, and Mine is waifu.
#3) Death Note – A battle of wits between two highly intelligent high schoolers both following their own sense of justice and ideals of what’s right and wrong. The battle between L and Light Yagami is one that’s been talked about ever since the release of Death Note. I often found myself struggling to decide who I wanted to win. All of the clever and unique ways they come up with to try and out smart each other is truly a sight to behold. I highly recommend Death Note to anyone new to the anime world.
#2) Angel Beats – The love story that beats Romeo and Juliet in my honest opinion. Everyone’s got one love story in their Top 10 somewhere, mine just happens to make it into my Top 5. Angel Beats is a story following high school students in the afterlife where a girl named Yuri leads the Afterlife Battlefront whose goal is to fight God. Gets your attention real quick doesn’t it? Believe me when I say it wasn’t easy picking first and second place because I love them both equally. So if you’re going to only take one thing away from all this I want it to be Angel Beats. I promise you’ll love it if you give it a chance.
#1) Code Geass – My all time numero uno anime. Mechs, strategy, superpowers, and the goal to overthrow and take over the government. Another battle of wits and one of the most interesting abilities that I’d love to have. It’s about Lelouch Vi Britannia, a young high school student who one day gets blessed with the power of Geass. Code Geass was one of the first anime I ever watched. Since the first time I watched it 4 years ago I’ve seen it around 13 times. With the recent news of season 3 in the works I’ll be watching it again soon. There are currently two seasons equaling 50 episodes that are all worth a watch.
I’d absolutely love to hear about everyone else’s favorite anime if you’d be willing to share them. Who knows, there might just be a few I haven’t seen yet. So let me hear about them in the comments.
